Welcome
Welcome to the official website of the Panjshirian Council of Australia. We are dedicated to bringing Panjshirians together and building a strong, united and connected community.
Our Council works to preserve our cultural heritage, strengthen community connections and encourage cooperation among Panjshirians across Australia. We support social and cultural activities while promoting mutual respect, unity and participation within Australian society. Together, we aim to build a stronger community and preserve our heritage for future generations.
Ahmad Shah Massoud
Ahmad Shah Massoud was a National Hero and Military commander, wildly known as the "Lion of Panjshir." He played a major role in Afghanistan's resistance against the Soviet occupation during the 1980s.
Born in 1953 in Bazarak, Panjshir, Massoud became one of the most influential figures in Afghanistan’s modern history. He later resisted the Taliban and advocated for a representative political system. Massoud was assassinated on 9 September 2001, two days before the September 11 attacks.
Panjshir History
Freedom belongs to those who defend their dignity, stand united in difficult times, and never surrender their hope for the future.
